Honorary Citizens 01-01-2008In february 2006 we went back to Lutsk where Tommi was waiting together with our old friends. Lyudmilla from SCM, Anatoli from the orphanage, Mr.V and others. It happened, that the town council had something in mind and by a little ceremony Tommi and I were nominated as “Honorary Citizens” of Lutsk. The Vice-Mayor said, that they gave us this appreciation, not because of what we were saying, but because of what we were doing. We became a little proud, but of course we thought of you all – and all the supporters we have. Poda has been doing business in the area and has received a mark of honour because of “social disposition”. It was great to be back at The Orphenage. The dental clinic is now in function and a lot of the new things, we gave them are in use. Anatoli was informed of the course we have started: “Living in excellence” and he asked us to arrange it (- it lasts for 3 days) for teachers, parents and older children. More than 500 persons participated – what an honour! Many of the parents have a lot of problems concerning low self-esteem with the after effect, alcoholism. One of the top-leaders for the region has also asked us to arrange the course for all of his co-workers. We are just communists, he said, and we have never learned anything about charity. Our efforts are fruitful. People are doing better – getting out of addictions and relizing eternal values . The difference is made not so much by words, but by the works of the samaritan. The new dish-washer we received from JP Storkøkken is installed but not yet completely connected. There is a need of expertise and a diagram.
The children are very happy for the new clothes from “Dania” as Denmark is called in Ukranian.

The Dental Clinic: The new dentist´s chair is useful functional!
Treatment: We were visiting some very interesting treatment-centers for children with handicaps and impressed by the methods they applied. Among other things: A one hour daily massage for the whole team. These Institutions are looking for colleagues in Denmark or other supporting countries who will help them to develop their treatment.

The Childrens Hospital We were also visiting The Childrens Hospital. Mission Denmark has financed the renovation of a whole section and everybody were so happy and grateful. Words can not express the warm-heartedness streaming from those hard tested ukranians. We had a good contact with a danish doctor from Ålborg. He is quit an expert concerning wireless IT used in ambulances. Per Thorgård is the name of this multitalent, who also is the owner of a music publishing firm distributing a kind of “muzak” to hospitals all over the world. Our hope is, that Per will be able to provide the 52 beds we are in need of for the new rest home in Tochin.
